To accommodate an apparel manufacturer’s need to increase sales in ladies apparel with Wal Mart, a comprehensive apparel study was conducted of mass-market retailers to identify specific product opportunities. Based on our recommendations, the client successfully developed a product niche with Wal Mart. Jointly with the client, the overall findings from the research and analysis were presented to Wal Mart senior management.
To assist a major denim manufacturer prepare their company for sale, an in-depth analysis was conducted to identify feasible sales opportunities. A recommended plan was developed for each major retailer identifying specific growth and profit opportunities and corporate guidelines on assortment planning and product placement were initiated. A successful sale of the client’s company closed in 2008.
Stagnant sales at a Fortune 500 retailer and a new CEO anxious for results resulted in an ongoing engagement that focused on the development of merchandising strategies. Two of the many successful merchandising programs initiated were:
◦ “Raise the Ring”: A strategy that increased average price point and average sale by modifying price endings and increasing pack sizes.
◦ “Holiday Intensification: A strategy that identified fourth quarter sales / profit opportunities for major product categories and items.

A protest filed against a “Request for Proposal” awarded by the California Department of Parks and Recreation to a recreation and management company was the basis for one of our engagements as an industry expert. Validating the feasibility of retail sales projections submitted in our client’s request for proposal and assisting our clients’ legal firm of Manatt Phelps & Phillips during the preparatory process and hearing were contributing factors in a successful decision for our client.
An arbitration case between a real estate company client and a tenant of a major Hollywood mall required our industry expertise. Clarifying vague descriptive terms of merchandise and store type in a lease; testifying at the arbitration; and assisting our clients’ legal team of Allen Matkins, Lech, Gamble & Mallory LLP during the preparatory process, deposition and arbitration led to a favorable decision for our client.
Provided preparatory research and retail expertise in a case involving contract defaults and attempts to evict tenant without requested compensation between Galleria Partners LLC and May Company a tenant in Sherman Oaks Galleria. For our clients Allan Matkins, Leck, Gamble, and Mallory; and Christensen, Miller, Fink, Jacobs, Glaser, Weil, and Shapiro LLP we assisting in proving May Company’s failure to meet contractual commitments. The case was settled favorably through arbitration for our client.
